Gunnedah and District Soccer Association will go ahead with plans to improve their spectator experience after taking out the #GreaterNewEngland funding round for May.
For winning this month’s community vote, Gunnedah and District Soccer Association will receive $3,000 that will allow them to purchase portable, light-weight seating to accommodate some of the 1000-plus spectators who attend matches at the Geoff Morgan Playing Fields.
Gunnedah and District Soccer Association is the largest junior sporting group in the area, with more than 450 registered players making up 48 teams.
Club President, Lindsay Sheedy, said she understands and appreciates the importance of having families along each weekend to support their children and wanted to make the experience a little more comfortable, particularly for the more elderly spectators.
“This funding is a huge contribution for us and will go a long way towards purchasing this seating. By improving the spectator facilities, we hope this encourage even more families to come along each weekend and support their kids.”
“This funding by Greater Bank will not only help greatly with the purchase of the seating but also lighten the load on wonderful group of volunteers who work tirelessly, particularly fundraising, for the club.”
Both runners-up for the May round, Dungowan Junior Rugby League Club and Gunnedah Combined Catholic P&F, will also each receive a $1,000 grant.
Greater Bank’s Regional Manager, Jennifer Smith, is so proud to see the program continue to provide such deserving community groups with much needed funds.
“The Gunnedah area has been a strong supporter of the program and it’s wonderful to see another very active sporting group being rewarded,” said Ms Smith.
The program this month again demonstrates the wide range of purposes for which the funding can be used.
