Vote now to help create an even #GreaterCentralWest

Orange CYMS Junior Rugby League Football Club 4x3.jpegThree groups from across the Central West are vying for a share of $3,000 as part of Greater Bank’s inaugural #GreaterCentralWest community funding round.

Doin It For Rural Aussie Kids (Dubbo), Orange CYMS Junior Rugby League Club and Raglan Rural Fire Service (Bathurst) have been nominated for the first round of the #GreaterCentralWest funding program with the public encouraged to vote for the organisation they think are deserving of the funds.

Doin It For Rural Aussie Kids (Dubbo)

Established by country music singer Jason Owen and his fiancé, Becy, ‘Doin It for Rural Aussie Kids’ is an all-inclusive charity helping the next generation living in Australian rural communities.

Donations and ongoing fundraising efforts undertaken by the group go directly towards supporting rural schools, holding motivational talks and providing Christmas presents for struggling families. The group is expecting more requests for assistance this Christmas given the impacts the drought, COVID and mouse plague have had on rural communities.

Orange CYMS Junior Rugby League (Orange)

Established in 1945, the CYMS is one of the largest sporting groups in the region. This season, more than 460 players make up the club’s 30 teams competing in the Group 10 competition across both tackle and tag formats.

After an interrupted 2020 season which impacted their capacity to fundraise, the program will assist the club’s ongoing operations and provide training equipment and match day supplies for their teams.

Raglan Rural Fire Service (Bathurst)

Raglan Rural Fire Service is run exclusively by community volunteers and provides 24/7 assistance in firefighting (field, structural and aviation), motor vehicle accident response, and natural disaster support, along with community information and assistance on fire matters in the Bathurst area. The brigade also responds to requests for support to out-of-area campaign fires and other incidents.

Funding from the program will assist the ongoing operations of this valuable community resource.

Voting in the August round is open from Monday, 2 August 2021 and closes at 5:00pm, Wednesday, 1 September 2021. To vote, go online to greater.com.au/greatercentralwest.

The group that scores the most votes will receive $2,000 and the runners-up each taking away $500.

Greater Bank is also calling for nominations for future funding rounds. Community groups can do so by visiting greater.com.au/greatercentralwest and tell us in 100 words or less, how the organisation is helping to improve lives of locals.
