Making the Northern Rivers region even greater

Greater Bank’s recently launched community funding program – #GreaterNorthernRivers – is giving community groups across the NSW Northern Rivers region the chance to share in $3,000 each month

Greater Bank will select three organisations that the community then vote on, with the winner receiving $2,000 and the runners-up each taking away $500.

It’s as simple as that!

Whiporie RFS Jan 2022.jpgSince launching last November, Richmond Valley Volunteer Health Transport, Whiporie Brigade Rural Fire Service and Jumbunna Community Preschool and Early Intervention Centre have been the major monthly beneficiaries, while a further six organisations have received the minor prize.

Greater Bank’s Regional Manager, Scott McCluskey, said the program is a simple way for organisations to not only raise valuable dollars but positively engage with their members, supporters, and the wider community.

“Like the rest of the state and indeed the country, the Northern Rivers region has been impacted by the pandemic, causing plenty of disruption to households, small business and community groups,” Mr McCluskey said.

“That’s why it’s more important than ever for Greater Bank to support the communities that support us, and the reason behind the launch of #GreaterNorthernRivers.

“Our community funding program is a very simple platform for community groups, be they grassroots sporting clubs, school P&C associations, not-for-profit volunteer-run organisations or established charities, to generate positive action and raise much needed funds.

“The money raised can be used for a range of activities, such as improving facilities, innovating the way they deliver their programs, or even expand their services to support a new or specific need in the community. Groups are limited only by their imagination.

“Since launching in the region late last year we’ve seen first-hand the positive impact this funding has had on the groups we have funded and the communities they support, which is why we’re excited about the program and the difference we know it will make to this region.”
