It was a record-breaking day at the Waratah Series Street Relays and Greater Bank Fun Run that took place recently in gusty conditions at The University of Newcastle’s Ourimbah campus.
Part of the Greater Bank RunNSW series, the Waratah Series Street Relays is a unique event suitable for all ages and abilities that offers a range of relay options including a 4x2km, 4x4km and a 4km Fun Run.
The Illawong Revesby Athletics Club made history by winning their first ever women’s open road relay title, clocking 56:06 minutes. Defending champions, Sydney University placed second with 57:32 ahead of Newcastle region who came in third place with 62:00 minutes.
In the men’s race Sydney University won their first title with a time of 48:20, beating home Randwick-Botany (49:16) and Newcastle Flyers (49:29).
