North Companions Football Club players are set to directly benefit after the club took out first prize of $3,000 as part of the #GreaterNewEngland funding round for July.

For winning this month’s community vote, the North Tamworth-based club will receive $3,000 that will enable them to purchase new training equipment for each of their 48 junior teams, from U6s through to U18s.

North Companions Football Club has grown exponentially over the past decade and now has almost 600 members playing across 55 teams.

Club President, Steve Mitchell, said that fundraising is an ongoing challenge for the club and this support will go directly towards supporting their young footballers.

“We’ve experienced incredible growth in recent years but with that comes increased costs to put the teams on the park and equip them to ensure they have every opportunity to be better players and enjoy the game,” Steve said.

“Fundraising is always tough for any local sporting club, and we are no different. We are always looking at ways to raise money without asking parents to continually dip into their own pocket.

“The application process for the #GreaterNewEngland program is very simple and a great way to engage the club members by getting them to vote. I’d encourage all sporting teams in the area to check it out and be part of it.

“This funding from Greater Bank, will go a long way towards making these purchases for every team. Without it, this just wouldn’t be possible. We can’t thank Greater Bank enough for this support.”

Greater Bank’s Regional Manager, Jennifer Smith, is excited to see the program continue to provide deserving community groups with much-needed funding that benefits the local region.

Supporting the communities that support us has always been a fundamental part of our business and one that we are committed to delivering. It’s great to see a deserving community group such as North Companions Football Club receive funding that allows them to continue to improve their facilities and training equipment | Jennifer Smith, Regional Manager.

"Both runners-up for the July round, Plains of Plenty and Tamworth Cycle Club, will also each receive a $1,000 grant." said Ms Smith.

The #GreaterNewEngland program continues in August, with voting open now and closing on Wednesday, 28 August 2019. Vying for their share in $5,000 will be Emerald Hill Progress Association, Gunnedah Evening VIEW Club and Gunnedah Netball Association.

To submit your vote either go online to greater.com.au/greaternewengland or visit any Greater Bank branch. Collectively the effort you make to vote will mean a lot to the winning organisation in terms of the programs and services they are able to offer the community.

Greater Bank is also calling for nominations for future funding rounds. Community groups can do so by visiting greater.com.au/greaternewengland and telling us in 100 words or less how the organisation is helping to improve the lives of locals.
