Greater Bank is proud to have once again supported Wallsend’s local businesses and community as a major sponsor of the 34th Annual 2019 Wallsend Winter Fair, which was held yesterday on Sunday 11th August.

This is the fifth year Greater Bank has sponsored what is Newcastle’s largest FREE outdoor community events, attracting more than 30,000 people.

The winter festivities kicked off with the Grand Parade followed by a full program of entertainment across three stages, which kept the crowds entertained throughout the day.

Visitors then had the chance to peruse more than 150 vibrant market stalls and local businesses that included food vendors, family amusement rides, show bags, demonstrations, street performers and much, much more.

There was also an appearance by the Newcastle Jets A-League team, which was made possible through Greater Bank’s Major Community Partnership with the club. Steven Ugarkovic, Nikolai Topor-Stanley, Lewis Italiano, Matt Ridenton and Patt Langlois took to the stage to share the team’s plans for the upcoming season while a huge crowd of fans lined up to meet the players and get their autographs.

A definite crowd favourite was the Greater Bank’s ‘Find the Cheques’ competition, with more than 100 people entering for the chance to win the major prize of a $1000 Greater Bank account. Ethan Smith was our final winner and was presented with her prize in branch on Monday.

Greater Bank’s Wallsend Branch Manager, Emma Black, said she was thrilled to be involved again in such an iconic community event.
